Classes will be held at the Loft, unless otherwise specified. The Loft is located at 218 North Main Street, on the second floor above Images of the Past and Present, directly across Main Street from River Market. Entrance is located on the south side of the building. The Loft has a room capacity of 21 people. Parking is not allowed in the space next to the building, please use street parking or the River Market parking lot located
behind the River Market building, on Water Street.

Canning Peaches
Enjoy these luscious gems throughout the year after you can them in a simple syrup. Khaiti Kahleck will show her easy method for safely canning peaches into glass jars. Canning means you don't have to use any energy or freezer space to store peaches for year round enjoyment!! River Market sells the famous Colorado peaches by the truckload beginning in early August, so get ready to save a bunch of money by canning them up for year round enjoyment. Stillwater Vegetable Garden Tour 2010
We’ll feature four, or more, private vegetable gardens of Stillwater and Bayport as an opportunity to show you that urban gardening is fun and easy to do. This self-guided tour will begin at 11am and you can start at any garden. The garden owners will be home to show you their gardens and talk to you if you have any questions. The map of the tour will be available at River Market Co-op the week before the tour.

Authentic Mexican Cooking
Enjoy the heat of the summer in these quick and easy salsas. Susana Perez, originally from Mexico, will share her family recipes for making salsa verde and two kinds of salsa roja. Susana will also demonstrate how to make taquitos which are usually served with salsa.

Freezing and Drying: Preserving the seasonal foods you love!
Your garden is producing and you want to keep some of that harvest for use during the cold and dreary winter months…Join Sara Morrison, owner of The Backyard Grocery, for an overview of preserving foods by freezing or drying. Methods for preserving color, texture and nutrition will be discussed as well as equipment, methods and packaging for success. Materials will be provided that include equipment, necessary steps, processing times and lists of foods that can be preserved by freezing or drying.

Therapeutic Foot Massage: The Art of Reflexology
Do you feel stressed out? Do you feel out of balance? Do you have chronic pain in any part of your body? Discover how therapeutic foot massage (reflexology) might benefit you. Learn about the history of reflexology and how it relates to your body’s energy. Find out how reflexology works, what energy paths are, and how reflexes are mapped on your feet. You will be shown some basic reflexology techniques that involve pressure points on the feet to help you relax and heal yourself. The facilitator of the class, Barry Farrell, is self-taught and has been giving therapeutic foot massages to family and friends for over twenty years.

They are plentiful and inexpensive, the garden is producing more than you, your family and your neighbors can eat; what to do? Sara Morrison, owner of The Backyard Grocery, will talk you through the process of canning tomatoes and tomato products. The class will outline the steps to can foods safely, the required equipment and recipes.

Get inspired with Maria Emmerich, a wellness expert in Nutrition and Exercise Science who shares a passion for helping others reach their goals. You will leave class armed with new information and a wealth of secrets that will shift your weight loss out of idle and into high gear. Some topics covered: diet, exercise, hormones, sleep, supplements and hidden metabolism slashers. Find out the biochemical problems with Weight Watchers and why a breakfast of Special K and skim milk does not “do a body good”.
